John Hennessy, the Gleaning Coordinator for the Seacoast Region, is a retired insurance professional of 33 years and previously worked as a volunteer for Gather.
Gather for a Hunger Free Community, a hunger organization based in Portsmouth, NH, leads gleaning for the Seacoast region. Gather hopes to connect local farms and community members on the Seacoast in the fight against food insecurity through our gleaning efforts. Volunteer groups glean at farms throughout the region to bring back produce for use in Gather’s Pantry Market, Meals 4 Kids Program, and distribution to other local food pantries and non-profits.
Our efforts are aided by grants from the Harvard Pilgrim Healthy Food Fund and NH Farm to School which aim to increase access to fresh local food in the Seacoast community. Gather welcomes volunteers and farmers who are interested in gleaning.
