In the North Country, gleaning is coordinated through Taproot Farm & Environmental Education Center. Our mission is to nurture care for the environment by educating, inspiring, and connecting communities to the land, to their food, and to each other in a holistic manner. Produce that we glean in our region is currently donated to two food pantries and a homeless shelter, though we are working to add additional benefit organizations this summer.

In addition to providing fresh, local produce to those in need, we also strive to connect farms with local food producers who create value-added products with excess fruits and veggies; this helps to financially support both farmers and small-scale food entrepreneurs in the North Country.

Taproot's North Country Gleaners programs receives funding through a grant from Harvard Pilgrim Foundation's Healthy Food fund.
